I prepared the batter by adding equal amount of water only. No oil/ghee or yogurt added as per the instructions given on the packet. I wanted to try my own recipe. In stead of pouring and steaming the batter inside a plate or square pan and cutting it in diamond shaped Dhoklas, as is usually done, I used the Idli steamer and poured the batter inside decorative moulds, such as square, triangle, flower and heart-shaped ones. Came out so good. These Dhoklas could be eaten just like Idlis with chutney, Saambaar etc.In the first picture, plain ones are shown with tomato-coconut chutney and coriander (cilantro) chutneyIn the second picture, some chillie chutney powder with sesame seed oil was spread over the Dhoklas.
