The portion is not as small as expected, maybe I lowered my expectations after reading the reviews. The taste is OK, but it is indeed oily. There is a fishy smell, but it is within the tolerable range. I can understand why many people say that the eel slices of the same brand are too fishy, but the same eel is OK when made into eel shreds.
The boneless eel shreds are so addictive, they are a bit oily and heavy in taste (you can drain some of the oil or add some side dishes), but they are really good I will repurchase them if they are on sale
