A Taiwanese friend wanted to try Shanghai mooncakes, so I bought a few of each flavor from Xinghualou to try. I think I'll just buy red bean paste and coconut paste next time. The lotus paste from Ronghua is still the best, but it's strange that lotus seeds are not only found in Jiangnan.

When I was a kid, I would eat mooncakes from Xinghualou every Mid-Autumn Festival. I definitely won't go for a scam if I buy this time-honored brand. Each piece is slightly smaller than the ones I buy here, but the taste is the same.
Cookies are ok, but not great. The ones I got were broken in the tube.
