Tonifying Qi and elevating Yang: used for Qi deficiency, weakness, loose stools with little food, sinking of Qi in the middle (e.g. prolonged diarrhea and prolapse of the uterus), and Qi deficiency and fever.
Stopping sweating: used for sweating (sweating even during the daytime without activity) and easy to catch a cold.
Inducing diuresis to reduce swelling: used for edema due to Qi deficiency (especially swelling of the face and lower limbs).
Shengjin nourishes blood: for deficiency of qi and blood, blood deficiency and yellowing, internal heat and thirst (diabetes and other symptoms of yin deficiency).
Promoting stagnation and paralysis: for paralysis and numbness caused by Qi deficiency and blood stagnation, paralysis and paralysis.
Supporting toxins and draining pus, astringent sores and regenerating muscles: used for sores and ulcers caused by deficiency of qi and blood that do not astringent for a long time.
Enhance immunity: modern pharmacological research shows that astragalus has the effect of enhancing the immune function.
Decoction (most commonly used): Take an appropriate amount of astragalus slices (usually 9-30 grams), add cold water and soak for about 30 minutes, then decoct. It can be decocted alone or in combination with other herbs to form a formula.
Tea: Take a few slices of astragalus (about 5-10 grams) into a cup, brew with boiling water, cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, then drink, repeat until bland in flavor.

Precautions
Astragalus is warm in nature and is mainly used for Qi deficiency. It should be used with caution or contraindicated in cases of yin deficiency and hyperactivity of yang (e.g., five heartburns and heat, hot flashes and night sweats), solid heat (e.g., high fever, constipation, sores on the mouth and tongue), and solid evil on the surface (e.g., malignant cold with heat and no sweating at the early stage of a cold). Improper use may lead to symptoms such as fire and abdominal distension.
Pregnant women, lactating women, children: should be used under the supervision of a physician.
