Winter Melon Paste Pastry-HK Diamond 1 each

In Shanghai, I often choose to eat wife cakes from branded stores. This time I bought one to try. It tastes good and I will buy it again. 👌

I understand the traditional way to make this pastry is to use LARD and I think a disclaimer needs to be put in that this is NOT vegetarian. The first bite that I took into this, all I could taste is the very pungent stench of pork lard. It is the very stinky kind. That is all I can taste and it leaves a terrible aftertaste in my mouth that won’t go away.

It doesn't have a melon flavor. It's more like a pastry with bean paste wrapped in pie crust than bread. I still want to eat Japanese melon bread.
