If you've ever had good restaurant-quality Filipino bbq chicken skewers before, this frozen chicken tocino from the brand Martin Purefoods tastes just like it. Not only is the seasoning and flavor very similar to the restaurant skewers, but the color (annatto, beet) and the texture also reflect it too. The chicken tocino comes pre-marinaded so there is no need to add any additional seasonings to the meat. I pan-fried the chicken tocino on medium-high heat with very little oil and minced garlic for about 3 minutes on each side, then at the last minute, I added about 2 tbsp of water, covered, and steamed for 2 minutes, removed the lid and the chicken tocino was completely cooked through. The meat is sweet, succulent, juicy, and packed with so much flavor. The sugar from the marinade creates a smokey char on the chicken as it cooked and that adds another dimension of flavor to the meat!
