説明

Handcrafted in Gunma Prefecture, the Takasaki Daruma (達磨) is a beloved symbol of perseverance and good fortune, with roots tracing back to the Edo period.

Crafted from papier-mâché by skilled artisans, Takasaki accounts for nearly all Daruma production in Japan, with over 900,000 dolls made annually.

Each Daruma is rich in meaning: its eyebrows are shaped like cranes, and its mustache like turtles—two animals that symbolize longevity and good luck in Japan.

When setting a goal or wish, the left eye is painted first. Once the goal is fulfilled, the right eye is completed, bringing the wish full circle.

Each Daruma color carries its own unique meaning: Red – Traditional symbol of good fortune and protection from misfortune.

Gold – Associated with wealth, prosperity, and success in business.

White – Represents clarity, purity, and focus—ideal for academic or creative goals.

Yellow – Linked to safety, well-being, and long-term stability.

Blue – Reflects self-improvement and success in studies or career advancement.

Black – Believed to ward off bad luck and protect against misfortune.

A meaningful gift or personal keepsake, the Takasaki Daruma celebrates the Japanese spirit of resilience and determination.
