5 Ways to Enjoy Yellow Croaker Fish

These mouthwatering yellow croakers sport a golden-colored abdomen and are relatively larger than your average yellow croaker

The scales on their stomach may even appear in varying shades of purple, green, and blue based on different lighting

Not only are they absolutely gorgeous, but they are also delicious, tender, and juicy

Let's explore the 5 different ways you can prepare this delicacy!

 

 

Method 1: Air-fry Yellow Croaker 


【Ingredients】

- Yellow croaker

- Ginger

- Garlic

【Steps】

1. Wash the yellow croaker thoroughly 

2. Cut the fish in half and stuff them with a couple of slices of ginger

3. Make the sauce: chili pepper, cumin powder, rice wine, soy sauce, sugar, and salt

4. Drizzle the sauce on top and let it rest for 20 min

5. Apply some cooking oil spray on all surfaces and air fry the fish at 350F for another 20min 


Air frying ensures we retain the original flavors from the fish

Method 2: Stir-fry Yellow Croaker With Garlic Butter


【Ingredients】

- Yellow croaker

- Green onion

- Marinade: garlic, ginger, onions, salt, pepper, dark soy sauce, cooking wine, oil, and corn starch

【Steps】

1. Thoroughly clean the fish with water and cut them into large pieces after drying

2. Combine ginger, cooking wine, salt, pepper, dark soy sauce, and edible oil for marination (30 min total)

3. On low heat, stir fry the garlic till they turn golden brown, and place the fish onto the pan

4. Add a little more dark soy sauce and cooking wine, then place a lid over the pan and braise the fish for 8 minutes!

Method 3: Yellow Croaker With Noodles

【Ingredients】

- Yellow croaker

- Spinach

- Shimeji brown mushroom

- Noodles of your choice

- Garlic

【Steps】

1. Fillet out the fish and let it marinate with white pepper and cooking wine for 15 minutes

2. Pan fry the fish bones and fish head in a hot pan then pour in cooking wine and water 

4. Once the water starts boiling, let it cook for 5 minutes and this will be your soup base for this dish! 

(The soup should start turning into a white-ish translucent color) 

4. Remove the bones and head from the pan and add some noodles and mushrooms

5. Let it simmer for 10 minutes until noodles are fully cooked, then add any veggies of your choice 

6. Finally, place a piece of nicely pan-seared fish fillet on top of the noodles!

Method 4: Braised Tofu With Yellow Croaker

【Ingredients】

- Yellow croaker

- Tofu, green onions, garlic, ginger

- Soybean paste, cooking wine, soy sauce

- Sugar, salt, pepper

【Steps】

1. Pour in three giant scoops of cooking oil into a hot pan and pan sear the fish until both sides are golden brown

2. Sautee the green onions, minced garlic, and some thinly sliced ginger altogether in the same pan

3. Add in the soybean paste and other seasonings (listed on top) then cover the fish with water 

4. Once it starts boiling, add in tofu and turn down the heat and let it simmer for another 15 min

Method 5: Yellow Croaker With Rice Cake

【Ingredients】

- Yellow croaker

- Rice cakes

- Green onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, dark soy sauce sugar, and salt

【Steps】

1. Pan sear each side of the fish for 3 minutes until nice and crispy and leave it aside for now

2. On a separate pan, sautee the green onions, garlic, and ginger. Then add in soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and some water 

3. Bring the fish to the seasoning pan and cover it with a lid on low to medium meat 

4. Add the rice cakes and some sugar, salt, and other seasonings into the pan 

5. Allow the rice cakes in the braising sauce to simmer for another 5 minutes 

6. Turn up to heat to high to ensure the sauce is no longer liquidy 

7. Sprinkle a few green onions and the fish is ready to serve!
