General Information

The Velvet Series Apricots were developed by Kingsburg Orchards. They actually lie on the scale between an Aprium and a Plumcot, depending on which variety you are looking at. The first Velvet developed was the Black Velvet Apricot. We were at once enamored with its honey-sweet golden flesh and striking velvety black skin. With its limited 2-3 week availability each year, other sister varieties were breed. The Velvet series was born. Each one has its own unique flavor and skin color, and is only available for a short period each summer – so if they’re available in your area, be sure to try them all! The Ruby Velvet is a late-season velvet apricot.
