Taiwan Miaoli Gongguan Non-Toxic Dried Red Dates

Description

The hometown of Taiwanese red dates, Gongguan Township in Miaoli County, is where you'll find "A Yu Ge Red Dates." The first red date tree in Taiwan was planted in Gongguan Township, initiating the area's connection to red dates. With a history spanning over a century, Gongguan Township is the only specialized region in the country for cultivating red dates. The peak harvest season for red dates is from mid-July to late August every year. Gongguan Township Farmers' Association holds an annual fresh red date fruit evaluation competition, which has been running for nine consecutive years since 2018. The competition evaluates various aspects such as packaging management, size, fruit cracking rate, color, taste, and sweetness. "A Yu Ge" has even received the honor of being crowned the "Red Date King."

Non-Toxic Dried Red Dates: These red dates have a vibrant color, a natural aroma, and are free from preservatives. They are prepared using a hot air drying method. Most locally grown red dates have pits, while pitless red dates are mostly imported from mainland China. Currently, about 90% of the red dates available in the market are imported from mainland China. Taiwan's native red dates are exclusively found in Gongguan, Miaoli. Red dates can be consumed directly as a snack, used in chicken stew, added to rice porridge, or incorporated into desserts. Contrary to the belief that red dates are only for winter supplementation, they are also an essential ingredient in sweet soups during the summer.
