Tenno Taiwanese Jasmine Rice

Tenno Premium Jasmine Rice has a unique Jasmine scent when cooked. It has a light and fluffy texture that you can taste and feel. Tenno Premium Jasmine Rice is a Taichung No. 194 crop which is a hybrid from Basmati Type 3 and Taiken No. 9. This unique crop has the appearance of Thai Jasmine rice yet contains the texture and flavor of the traditional japonica rice. The Dongli Rice Factory was founded in 1899. The founder was a Hakka merchant surnamed Song who came with a merchant group to Taiwan to escape internal conflict towards the end of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, the Hualien and Taitung regions were remote and not easily accessible so were open for businesses to establish themselves there. Due to the clean water and rich soil of the area rice was a highly suitable crop. Therefore Merchant Song settled down in the area and began a century-long journey of rice cultivation. Tenno Premium Jasmine Rice is grown in Hualien County on the east side of Taiwan island. The cultivating method remains unchanged since over 100 years ago and is irrigated by natural unpolluted water from the Xiuguluan Creek.
