At the National Tea Appraisal Competition, Mr. Riichi Yoshida, a proud producer of Uji tea, has won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award more than twenty times, among many other awards. He possesses high-quality tea plantations and the hand-rolling technique for gyokuro. The precious tea leaves from Mr. Yoshida’s tea garden have been carefully handpicked.

Mr. Yoshida’s tea garden still follows the traditional Uji method of constructing shelves from logs and bamboo, spreading reed screens on top, and laying straw over them. By covering the tea garden, direct sunlight is blocked, resulting in premium tea with less bitterness and more umami.
