Please note that Xi xin/Asarum has been removed from this formula to meet current FDA restrictions on aristolochic acid. Xi Xin naturally contains aristolochic acid. Although processing may reduce the amount of aristolochic acid, unless it is a very minor ingredient in a formula it will likely be detectible with an aristolochic acid test. As the FDA tolerance for aristolochic acid is zero (none detected), we have had to modify our Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao Wan, and we have substituted Gui Zhi/Cinnamomum cassia twig for Xi Xin/Asarum sieboldii herb. Both Gui Zhi and Xi Xin are warm, acrid medicinals used to dispel external wind-cold. Gui Zhi works in this formula to dispel wind-cold, warm the muscles, and open the channels and collaterals.
