Five-Spice Braised Chicken (Whole)

Most definitely will not be ordering this again. You might enjoy this if you like mostly bones and tendon. There is hardly any meat in here at all, and its dry and chewy. This is what they do with all the chicken off-cuts.

The five spice chicken was very different from the soy sauce chicken or rotisserie chicken we usually get. The chicken itself is on the small side and tastes very lean, like a pasture raised chicken would. There is not much meat but all the chicken pieces are there. Overall the flavor is unique and the meat is tough but flavorful. The picture is after we put the chicken pieces into separate containers for the fridge.

Portion not bad, too much MSG...Have to drink lots of water afterwards...

Heated in an air fryer and the skin got kind of crispy . Added scallions and coriander to the sauce and dipped the chicken into the sauce . Eaten with hot plain white rice and tasted great . My kids thought it’s Peking duck ( as the seasoning on the chicken tastes the same ) which would have cost so much more . Would order again
