Pretty good, very spicy! Maybe a little more spice than Haldiram’s tadka dal, which is my gold standard for comparison. But this tomato dal was even more salty than it was spicy. Very packed w flavor tho & while it’s a bit too over salted (almost like achaar), it can be remedied by mixing w the same amount or more of unsalted rice, potato or starch of choice. To me this has more of a capsicum/red bell pepper flavor than it does tomato though you definitely get the acidity & tanginess of the tomato plus heat from chili (cayenne?) I also liked the mustard seeds in here, a nice touch.
