This hot pot was pleasantly surprising and delicious. I got this on sale for 3.99. ever since I saw this type of self heating hot pot years ago at an h-mart, I have always been intrigued but scared to try it. So I took a chance, mines did have a date from January of this year but it clearly says on the packaging that it has a shelf life of 9 months. so as long as it isn't ripped or destroyed; it's fine. So I followed the instructions and I did use Google translate since it's in Chinese. The veggies does smell, it has a funny smell when I opened the bag and separated from the juices it had. The soup base is delicious, it's very umami, spicy and tongue numbing. I only used half since it is pretty oily and I didn't need all of it. The rest of it I'll use it for another soup or for marination. So it was easy to assemble, the heating pouch takes 15 seconds and when I put the top on it did inflate a bit. don't be alarmed, it won't pop. I know because it scared meXD. So I let it cook for over ten minutes. It doesn't boil it just I guess simmers it with a boil if that makes sense. Everything cooked evenly, I did add spam to mines and it was delicious. Not too salty which I like but I recommend adding some lime to balance it out because to me it does need some tang to cut the richness of the oils. I rate this at 10/10. I liked it, it's good, affordable, fun to make without turning on the stove during this heat and easy to pack with you for lunch. It does come with a pair of chopsticks and a napkin. It was a fun experience and I have no complaints.
