This 2024 Yejing Fanghua (野径芳华, Wild Path Magnificent Youth) Yunnan Wild White Tea, harvested from the remote wild mountains of Fengqing 凤庆, Yunnan, at an altitude of 2300 meters—one of the highest tea-growing regions in China. Due to the challenging manual cultivation and picking conditions, this tea is truly authentic wild mountain tea and naturally wild-grown. It has also been certified organic by the national authority. The raw material consists of spring-picked ancient tree buds and two leaves, with tree ages over a hundred years. The area is remote, sparsely populated, and ecologically pristine, providing ideal natural conditions for wild tea. Because of the geography, the tea is processed on-site in the mountains, using the rare double withering technique adapted to Fengqing’s local climate, ensuring authentic and reliable quality.
After harvesting, the tea leaves are first naturally air-withered until about 70% of moisture is lost, then subjected to gentle sun-drying for about 20 minutes twice daily, in the morning and evening, to stabilize the tea’s inner quality. The dry leaves remain attached to their twigs with drooping edges, displaying a color of brownish-yellow mixed with gray-green and obvious fine downy hairs. The aroma is pure and natural, dominated by a strong downy hair fragrance, accompanied by honey, floral, fruity, glutinous rice, faint wine notes, and a natural orchid scent—complex, elegant, and long-lasting.
The tea liquor is bright golden and thickly sweet in the first two infusions, with a strong mountain wild charm. From the third to fifth infusions, the liquor is clear and bright with a sweet, refreshing taste, abundant tea energy, and a strong body sensation. From the sixth to tenth infusions, the liquor turns light yellow and transparent, with a mellow, smooth, and sweet aftertaste that lingers, showcasing the lively vitality and natural allure unique to wild mountain white tea.
