Too dry not soft at all

Ordinary white bread is very dry. I only tried it because it was on sale. I won’t buy it if it’s more than $5, but it’s okay if it’s less than $5. It’s advertised as having no additives but it doesn’t specify what additives it is. Is it a swelling agent? preservative? Does that mean other breads have additives added?

The texture of the bread is wrong, you can cut it thickly if you like.
