How to Brew Hong Tra

Step 1: Gather all the necessary tea, brewing equipment, and water. The water used for brewing should be brought to a boil and then allowed to cool to around 90 - 96 degrees Celsius. This is the ideal temperature for the tea leaves to fully bloom without becoming bitter.

Step 2: Rinse the teapot or teacup with boiling water to sterilize it.

Step 3: Measure an appropriate amount of tea leaves into the teapot (typically, people use anywhere from 4 to 8 grams of tea).

Step 4: Rinse the tea leaves: Pour a small amount of boiling water (just enough to cover the tea leaves), gently shake, and then pour it out. This step not only rinses away any impurities but also helps awaken the tea leaves, allowing them to open up quickly and release their aroma effectively.

Step 5: Steep the tea: Pour hot water into the teapot, covering the tea leaves, and then close the lid. Steep the tea for 3 - 5 minutes for the first infusion, gradually increasing the steeping time for subsequent infusions (usually, Lục Trà can be steeped for about 4-5 infusions).

Step 6: Pour the tea into a cup for consumption. It's recommended to use a strainer to filter out the tea leaves, ensuring a pure tea in the cup.
