Gentle roasted aroma and mild sweetness – Kaneju Genmaicha
This Genmaicha was developed in collaboration with “Rice Masters” – experts who hold the highest rank of five stars – and the rice specialty shop “Sumidaya Shoten.” It uses deeply roasted first-picked tea leaves and lightly roasted, top-grade, first-class brown rice. The process brings out the gentle roasted aroma and mild sweetness from both the tea leaves and the rice. This blend of tea and rice, two of Japan’s most iconic agricultural products, is a carefully crafted Japanese-made tea.
Adopting the tea-making method from Makinohara
Tea leaves from the Makinohara region are thicker than those grown in mountain areas, due to the strong sunlight in the region. To maximize the characteristics of these tea leaves, a “deep steaming method” was developed about 50-60 years ago, which involves longer steaming times. The result is tea leaves with a beautiful deep green color, less bitterness and astringency, and a fuller taste.
Joint development with a rice specialty shop using the highest quality brown rice
This Genmaicha is a result of joint development with a rice specialty shop that has earned the highest rank of “Rice Master” with five stars. By carefully selecting the highest quality first-class brown rice that complements the tea leaves, this blend has resulted in a flavor-rich Genmaicha.
