Used for spleen deficiency and fatigue, poor appetite, weakness after illness, insufficient qi and yin, spontaneous sweating, and thirst. Also used for lung dryness and cough.

Drinking water infused with Taizishen can improve cough due to lung deficiency, as well as relieve palpitations, decreased appetite, and nervous fatigue.

(1) Used for spleen qi deficiency and stomach yin deficiency, manifested as reduced appetite and fatigue. It can tonify spleen qi and nourish stomach yin. It is often used together with yam and dendrobium.

(2) Used for lung deficiency with deficiency of qi and jin (body fluids), manifested as dry cough, palpitations, insomnia, and night sweats due to deficiency heat. It can tonify qi and generate fluids, treat cough due to qi deficiency and lung dryness, and when combined with Beishashen and Maidong, it treats palpitations and insomnia due to deficiency of both qi and jin, along with sweating. Taizishen is a plant of the Caryophyllaceae family, different from ginseng in both family and genus. Although its efficacy is similar to ginseng, its medicinal properties are weaker and it needs to be taken in large doses for a long time to be effective.

(3) Taizishen has the dual effect of tonifying qi and nourishing yin, used to treat symptoms such as shortness of breath, reluctance to speak, mental fatigue, profuse sweating with slight activity, reddish complexion, excessive sweating at night, irritability, dry mouth, and throat."
