Our Premium Silky / Silkie chicken is a bantam heritage breed, instantly recognizable for its distinct black color. Bo Bo Silkies are the foundation of many Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal soups—recipes people have found uniquely nourishing for as long as 2,000 years ago. We have continued to raise these Silky / Silkie chickens to uphold generations of Asian culinary tradition.

This chicken has a very distinctive taste and texture. The black-hued bones and skin are traditionally thought to have an abundance of iron that helps fortify the blood. This chicken is a popular choice of new mothers, pregnant women, or those trying to have a baby.
