Kanyao, which means "long stem" in Thai (ทุเรียนก้านยาว)  durian is specific to the Nonthaburi region north of Bangkok and is considered to be the best in the world thanks to its sweet taste and creamy texture. The flesh doesn't become mushy when it's ripe, and the aroma is more subtle than Chanee, like a custard of overripe mangosteen, ambrosia, and sweet milk. The fruit is also typically round shaped and smaller than the other varieties.

In Thailand, a Kanyao Durian can fetch $200 - $600 each from the very best farms, depending on its size. Durian season is from April to August in Thailand, so the best time to buy one is right now.

Kanyao Durian tree yields less fruits per harvest, sometimes only 5-6 fruits by nature or design, as to keep each fruit undiluted in taste and fragrance. These fruits were wrapped and protected individually so that insects or chemicals do not touch them. Literally, the farmers baby these durians.
