I quit drinking alcohol over eight years ago, so I’ve been making myself beverages with a kick since before “mocktails” became a thing. I used to spend a lot of time every week making large batches of sekanjabin or switchel (other sweet and tangy shrub-like drink mixes which include vinegar). I still do enjoy tinkering with homemade fruity soda syrups to splash in seltzer, but this brand has absolutely *perfect* fruity vinegars ready to go and always have on hand. Every flavor I’ve tried has been expertly balanced and my favorite thing to drink when I relax in the evening. These are not just a straight vinegar made from their corresponding fruits - they are vinegar laden concentrates which include puree and juice of the listed fruits, as well as natural sweeteners that make it perfect for a freshly mixed fancy soda when added to carbonated drink. A note on this and many other products here with translated nutrition stickers on imported products for other westerners that only speak English — when you look at ingredient lists and see unrecognizable words, don’t be immediately deterred. Just look up the ingredient and you will find they are often just the clinically technical term for often totally natural and safe things, which we are not used to in America because in stark contrast, our companies make euphemisms for everything to make them sound more friendly. This sort-of invisible wall in translation could lend to misunderstandings and I think helped unfairly exacerbate a fear of things like monosodium glutamate here. It’s basically like the difference between a scientific binomial and colloquial name in taxonomy. Salt would also look scarier on labels if it were always printed “sodium chloride”. In this case, the primary sweetener “fructooligosaccharide” sounds weird, but it is a fruit-derived sweetener that tastes great AND promotes beneficial gut bacteria, which makes it *leagues* better than “high fructose corn syrup”.
