Different than your typical mustard, karashi is a hot, spicy mustard with a pungent vinegary taste that adds a nice kick and flavor to dishes. You'll often find is served with dishes such as tonkatsu (breaded fried pork cutlets), dumplings, oden (traditional hot pot), and natto (fermented soybeans).

This special karashi is 100% organic and full of flavor. We recommend enjoying with caution as this product is quite spicy! You will notice the Onikarashi (Spicy Mustard Demon) mark on the package. It’s an official trademark of Yamasei’s "Golden Demon" brand and symbolizes a product that is so spicy even demons are surprised!

Suggested use: Mix 2 tsp of karashi powder with 1.5 tsp of water and a pinch of salt. Wait 5-15mins for the flavors and heat to develop (the powder itself isn't spicy). Add a dollop of this mustard to tonkatsu (breaded fried pork cutlets), dumplings, hot pots, or natto (fermented soybeans). Use as a substitute for hot sauce or mustard when looking for a little extra heat.
