Yummy! Crispy and has layers. So much easier to not make the shells.
These are more like the authentic Portuguese pastry tarts, not as delicate and flaky as the Chinese or Hong Kong style crust they use at the bakery and dimsum restaurants. They are still very delicious and buttery. I’ll purchase again but I will also try the other brands Weee offer.
My filling recipe (makes about a dozen): 1 cup of heavy cream, 1/3 cup of milk, 1/3 cup of powdered sugar or 1/2 cup of white sugar (use more if you like it sweet), 2 whole eggs, a pinch of salt, 2 drops of almond extract or vanilla, and cinnamon for dusting. Mix together and strain for a smooth texture. Pour in shells and bake for 400° for 20-25mins in a convection oven, then turn it to broil to create the brown skin for approx 5 mins (keep watch so it doesn’t burn). Let it cool for 20 mins, dust with cinnamon and enjoy. You can bake one tart first to test out the recipe and adjust to your liking.
