- WOW! This Shirakiku Cut Walmart is THE BEST seaweed I have tried! I didn’t even need to cut it for my miyeok. A little less than a dry ounce was good for 4 hearty servings, so a little goes a long way. Per the directions, I soaked it in cold water for 30minutes the first time. The second time I got distracted and it soaked for 2 hours, but no difference. The miyeok boils for about 45 minutes, so the seaweed was perfectly tender. The package says it can go directly into boiling broth, so I’ll try that next with another flavor profile. Very excited to try it in other types of soup for a change of pace and added nutrients. - I'm happy with how easy it is to use. It's great for salads and miso soup. Since it's a dried food, it's not something to worry about too much, but the expiration date is written on the cut-out part, so be careful.
