This is the exact taste of my favorite, filipino puto bumbong!
It tastes like rice dumplings dipped in brown sugar, not bad.
It has a soft, sweet and glutinous texture, and it's very convenient to steam.
Hi! I know; not the most appetizing photo, but let me just say that Ferino’s have perfected the distribution for this product internationally. I’m also here to provide some tips for someone trying it for the first time, or someone who didn’t like it because of the hard texture. First of all, I would treat the instructions as optional as I didn’t really like it microwaved (hard as a rock when not eaten right away, and steaming it for 8-10 minutes wasn’t really enough. Personally, I steamed mine for 20-30 minutes. It seems that the puto bumbong goes back to its original hard state when frozen, so you’re basically recooking it again, which would probably explain why 20-30 minutes of steaming brings out the best result for this product. I hope that helps! And also, definitely try the Vietnamese margarine that Weee! also sells. It’s a tad cheaper than star margarine, but also tastier. :)
I was so excited to try this when I got it. I followed the microwave instruction as stated on the package but it came out super hard like a taffy which was really tough to chew and swallow that it made inedible. Hard pass for me.
Haven't eaten it yet, hope it's good. Looks good.
