The outside is coated in a crispy, sweet sugary coating, while the inside is sour—I don't know what fruit it's made from. Quite delicious.

The packaging doesn't contain any wood chips, and the manufacturing date is on the packaging, so they're not expired. The candied hawthorns are crispy, sweet and sour, and quite delicious. I bought them for my kids during the Chinese New Year so they could experience a Chinese tradition.
