The fish was relatively fresh, but it was frozen. It was quite different from the live fish I bought in Shanghai. It was better than the grouper on Weee. I braised it, but it still had that fishy smell of dead fish. I definitely couldn't stand steaming it. Southerners wouldn't be used to it.

The small fish is sweet enough and tastes good whether pan-fried, boiled, or steamed.
